Your body is a complex system of energy centers called chakras. The health of your chakras plays a crucial role in your physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. There are seven main chakras, each associated with specific colors, elements, and energies. When these chakras are balanced and open, your vibration is high and you act from a place of loving intention. Conversely, when they are constrained or closed, your vibration lowers, making life feel more challenging.
Just like you choose foods to nourish your body, you can also choose foods to support the health of your chakras. In this post we'll cover the foods that are most energetically aligned with each of the seven chakras. This holistic approach to eating will get you in tune with how energy flows throughout your physical body, and how you can support its flow through your diet.
***Please note - it's important to access which of chakras needs dietary support. For instance, many people reading this might have a very active third eye or crown chakra, but could benefit from grounding foods for the lower chakras.

Chakra Balancing Nutrition & Color
Each chakra is associated with a particular color that emits a unique energetic vibration. Consuming foods of the same color gives your chakras a boost, helping it open up and function optimally.
Have a look at the diagram above, which is a representation of the visible light spectrum. You can see that red, the color of the root chakra, has a lower frequency compared to other colors in the visible spectrum. This aligns with the grounding and stabilizing qualities of this particular chakra. On the other hand, violet, the color of the crown chakra vibrates at the highest frequency. Given that the crown chakra connects us to the other realms, this makes sense!
This mindful approach to eating, known as chakra-balancing nutrition, involves selecting a variety of colorful, whole foods that align with the energetic signature of each chakra. It's not just about the physical nutrients, though choosing wholesome foods is important; it's about the energetic qualities these foods carry.
By consciously choosing chakra balancing foods, you can nourish your entire energetic system. Let's go over each of the 7 chakras and the best foods to consume to align and support them.
Chakras And The Elements
Aside from eating color specific foods to balance your chakras, you can also eat foods that align with the elements of each chakra. The first 5 chakras correspond to the traditional physical elements of Earth, Water, Air, Fire and Ether. The remaining two chakras are associated with the cosmic realm, which is sometimes called the element of "light."
In order to balance the chakras by the element they're associated with, eat foods that align with that particular element. For instance, if you want to balance the root chakra, which is of the Earth element, you would eat root vegetables which grow directly in the Earth. The vibration of these vegetables are in energetic alignment with the root chakra, and will therefor be very nourishing and healing to this chakra.

When eating green, the sky is the limit. Broccoli, kiwis, green grapes, green apples, celery and limes are all wonderful heart chakra foods.
Eating to support the heart chakra's elemental association with air involves eating foods that are dry and raw or bitter. These foods have detoxifying properties that support your heart chakra's health. Green beans, green lentils and bitter melons are optimal choices.

The throat chakra, located in the middle of your neck, is responsible for your ability to express yourself with clarity, authenticity and conviction. This chakra is associated with the color blue, and it's element is Ether (or space, the void, nothingness).
Throat chakra foods include all blue foods like blueberries, figs, eggplants, and blue Spirulina.

- Energy: Intuition, Insight, Spiritual Awareness
- Affirmation: I trust my intuition and inner wisdom. My mind is open to new insights, and I see beyond the visible. I am connected to the higher realms, and my spiritual awareness guides me on my path.
The third eye chakra is your highest feminine chakra. When it's open and aligned your intuition is sharp and you're the embodiment of wise divine feminine energy. Once we've reached the third eye chakra, we're out of the chakras that ground us in physical reality, and into the realm of the higher self and Divine conciousness.
So, while we can certainly give the third eye chakra a boost by eating indigo colored foods, physical foods become much less important as you ascend the chakra ladder.
However, I recommend all food that are indigo or deep purple in color. For instance, red cabbage, eggplants, blueberries, blackberries and elderberries are all indigo colored foods that that help the third eye chakra funtion optimally.
What can really help the third eye is presentation of food! The third eye is very responsive to beauty, so looking at beautiful things really soothes and balances it. Aim to arrange your food in an asethic way. Have a look at this eye-candy fruit platter or this healing vegetable tray. The colors, shapes, textures and sizes of all the foods have been arranged in an aestetically pleasing way. In other words, eat with your eyes!

- Crown Chakra Affirmation: I am connected to the divine wisdom and universal consciousness. My mind is open to the infinite possibilities of the universe, and I am in harmony with the cosmic flow. I am a vessel of divine light and love.
The crown chakra sits at the top of the head, and is your body's energetic hub for spiritual connection, Divine consciousness and higher awareness. Along with the third eye chakra, this is one of the upper chakras that is not genrally supported by the energetic frequency of food. In fact, the crown chakra is healed and aligned by fasting. Please note - do not undertake a fast without consulting your naturopth or medical practicioner. Fasting isn't for everyone.
Pure, natural spring water is my go-to recommendation for boosting the crown chakra. Bonus points if you can collect your own Spring water in a glass jar. Staying well-hydrated with clean water supports the upper chakras like nothing else.
Chamomile tea, known for its calming properties, is great at soothing your crown chakra. You can also use herbs like lavender or holy basil to create soothing infusions. These can be enjoyed as part of midful tea or bathing rituals.
