Albert Einstein once said, "everything in our Universe is vibration." The atoms in our bodies, the molecules and atoms in inanimate objects, thoughts and sounds - all things in our Universe are in motion, vibrating . Even the planet itself vibrates and resonates at its own frequency.

The human ear can only hear a limited range of vibrations per second. In sound science, the number of vibrations per seconds is known as "frequency", which is measured in Hz.

The human ear is only capable of hearing sounds that vibrate at the frequency of 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz (20 kHz). Dolphins and bats are capable of hearing sound up to 100 kHz, so you can see how limited the human capacity for hearing sounds is.

At the heart of solfeggio frequencies is the belief that the vibrational signature of certain sounds, ranging from 174 Hz to 963 Hz, can positively impact our mental, physical and spiritual health.

Now that we've covered the basics of the science of sound, let's have a look at where Solfeggio frequencies came from.

    What Are Solfeggio Frequencies?

While there's a number of different opinions on where the solfeggio frequencies originated, it's widely believed they were first introduced by a Benedictine Monk and music theorist named Guido d’Arezzo in the 10th Century.

Guido d'Arezzo put music to a poem called "The Hymn To St John The Baptist." This hymn, which is a Gregorian chant, is the most widely celebrated example of the use of the solfeggio scale in ancient music. The six original tones of the solfeggio scale are all present in it.

Here it is, if you'd like to listen to it:

One of the oldest examples of the solfeggio frequencies

This is the first stanza of The Hymn To St John The Baptist:

    Ut queant laxis
    Resonare fibris
    Mira gestorum
    Famuli tuorum
    Solve polluti
    labii reatum
    Sancte Johannes

You may notice that the musical scale of Ut-Re-Mi-Fa-So-La is present, which forms the basis for our modern Do-Re-Mi-Fa-So-La-Ti scales used by musicians today.

Each scale holds a particularly frequency that can be measured in Hz. Here they are:

    • UT : 396 Hz
    • Re = 417 Hz
    • Mi = 528 Hz
    • Fa = 639 Hz
    • Sol = 741 Hz
    • La = 852 Hz

These six tones form the original solfeggio scale. Three extra frequencies were subsequently added, yielding the modern day solfeggio scale which consists of the nine tones you can listen to below.

    The Solfeggio Frequency List

Below you will find the 9 pure solfeggio frequencies. Simply click on the arrow next to tone you want to hear. These are the pure tones, with no added music or embellishments. You can play each tone on its own, or you can scroll through the list and play several (or all) of the tones at once. Each tone will last for 4 minutes and 35 seconds.

If you would like to work with the solfeggio tones, but find it difficult to listen to the pure tones, there are many beautiful musical scores set to the 9 solfeggio frequency tones on YouTube.

You can use these tones for meditation, as a part of your yoga practice or simply play them in the background as you go about your day. I recommend listening to them daily for at least 21 days. I've found this to be roughly the amount of time it takes to start seeing results.

The best way to listen to solfeggio frequencies with with earphones. Listen to them at a moderately low volume. They don't need to be loud to be effective. If you don't have earphones, it's perfectly fine to listen to them without.

Are these pure tone frequency better than the ones that are impure in comparison. Furthermore, do purer tones take less time for the mind and soul to process than the impurer ones?

Hi Eric, This is an interesting question, and one where a lot of research has not yet been done. A lot of research has been done on the healing properties of the Solfeggio frequencies, and some of it is actually astounding! The brain is literally an electical device that responds very well to sound frequencies. With regards to pure/raw/naked tones as oppossed to tones overlayed with music, the one thing I would say is that tones that are overlayed with music have to be professionally produced. You can find a lot of amatuer productions online, and while the producer likely had great intentions, the disharmony of the music doesn't impact the brain/body as well as the pure tone. I personally find the pure tones quite hypnotic and meditative, but I can understand that some people might prefer tones with music overlays. That's fine, it's just hard to tell which ones are actually professionally produced.

          Hi Keri,

I started using Binaural beats and Subliminals back in 2017 periodically, and found they didn't work for me by the time I got to 2021. I then stumbled across Solfeggio frequencies throughout last year, and found these to work with certain frequencies combined, such as 528 and 639 Hz respectively, overlayed with music.
I found your page in recent days and have started to listen to the above pure tone frequencies you have kindly presented to us all, and found that it has a more concentrated effect, that have brought an outcome that I would not have expected to happen in recent days. I am now of the opinion that these shorter more pure tones are more effective than what others are overlaying with music online, often for multiple hours, and may abandon listening to those in the near future.

            Hi Eric,

I agree with you. I've had a similar experience over the years. The tones overlayed with music don't seem to have much of an impact for me. Plus, as you mentioned, it's nice to experiment with different tone combinations. I've experienced significant shifts from listening to the pure tones, and am a huge believer that we have only just touched the tip of the iceberg when it comes to understanding how impactful the Solfeggio frequencies really are.

Thank you for these. I have been listening for 5 days now. Yesterday I woke with a pain in my shoulder. I listened to the 2 healing frequencies 3 or 4 times and the pain went away. Haven't had any issues since. My question is...You talk about 9 frequencies but you have 10 on here. What is the 10th?

Hi Daniela, Interesting! I have read that in the higher ranges binaural beats can cause anxiety and anger. Binaural beats are different from Solfeggio frequencies. Solfeggio tones are very calming and healing. Start with a few tones in short intervals and see how you feel.

Hi Steve, You can play the frequencies for as little or as long as you like. I've set them at this time because of the numerological association with the number 435. 4+3=7 and 7+5 =12 and 1+2= 3. Three is a divine number, a master builder number. It's associated with laying strong foundations, growth and harmony, which I hope these frequencies help everyone that listens to them find. Thanks for noticing this. You must be a numbers buff!

            Hi Leanne,
Firstly, any time you see any sequence of numbers repeating continuously it's a definite message from your guardians. 123 is a great sign that you're picking up speed and moving forward with momentum..you might be leaving behind old patterns and ideas that were holding you back. Next time you see 123, take note of what you're doing when you see it. A lot of time these messages are related to what's happening right at the time that you see the number.

Also, the prime number of all (ALL) Solfeggio frequencies is a divine number 3. I've been around music production for 17 years of my earlier life and it's time to put all the maths, physics and knowledge about anatomy into practice.

          Look what I found also: 432hz=divine 3
          435hz=divine 3
          440hz=pure rubbish
          🙂
I won't do Binaural music as you hear on the channels, hours and hours of it.

I will smuggle it into my music production and see what it can do.

Also I be using fine tune VST I got from year 2005 which does its job perfectly, even on 2 decimals. The closer I get, the better. It be a lot of fine pitching of every element of the project.

          Peace, love, respect, unity.

Thank you so much for describing how to listen to all of them at the same time! I read that others were doing it but I hadn't pictured how they were doing it. So, I just did what you suggested. I moved my computer aside, put my hands around my Himalayan salt lamp, and chanted AUM. I will also switch out and use some favorite stone and crystals.
Excellent Experience. I have the impression that one cannot do this too often and I may do this again later this evening.

Aum (A O U M for best resonance) at the same exact note the whole scull would resonate strongly and spread it throughout every bone?
      Just a thought.

Hi Frank, That's an excellent question, and I meant to address this in the article. The short answer is that the sounds do not need to be audible for you to experience their healing vibration. You can play the sounds with headphones and still benefit greatly from the frequency they vibrate at.
