These air fryer apples are just like the famous fried apples at Cracker Barrel, but with much less fat. They're juicy and sweet and tossed in a combination of cinnamon and coconut oil. Enjoy them on pancakes or with ice cream.

Is there anything you can't make in your air fryer? I've made air fryer recipes for veggies like carrots and artichokes, but the only fruit I've tried to make an air fryer recipe for is bananas (yum)! That's why I thought I'd test out apples. And, wow, were they a success!

These air fried apples are a little bit like apple pie filling. They're so deliciously sweet and tender. I love to eat them with coconut yogurt and a sprinkling of cinnamon, but they're also delicious on top of your morning oatmeal or rolled up in a crepe for dessert. You can even pop them in the blender, and voila - applesauce! So many options.

    Ingredients

    • Apples: Choose a sweet apple like a Fuji, Pink Lady, Honeycrisp, Gala or Golden Delicious. I like to peel my apples before air frying them, but you can also leaves the peels on.
    • Vegetable Oil: Choose a neutral flavored vegetable oil such as canola oil, grapeseed oil or plain vegetable oil.
    • Cinnamon: Cinnamon is key to this recipe. It's what gives your apples that apple pie flavor.
    • Coconut Oil: I like to use coconut oil for the reputed health benefits it offers.
    • Brown Sugar: You can use light or dark brown sugar. If you prefer to use maple syrup, use 1 tablespoon in place of the brown sugar.
