If you've never tried air fryer bananas, you're in for a real treat! They're a wonderful snack on their own, but they can also be added to so many other things. This Banana Chia Tropical Smoothie gets its sweet caramel flavor from roasted bananas.
When bananas roast in the air fryer their natural starch converts to sugar, which means they get extra sweet, caramelized and gooey. I love to eat them on toast for breakfast, or as a topping for a big bowl of oatmeal.

๐Reasons You'll Love This Recipe
๐It only takes 10 minutes to make.
๐Because these bananas are cooked in the air fryer, this recipe is mess and hassle free. If you're looking to making dehydrated bananas, check out this post: How To Make Dried Banana Chips.
๐This recipe is vegan and gluten-free.
๐Ingredients
You only need 4 simple ingredients to make air fryer bananas.
- Bananas: Be sure to use a ripe banana. Ripe bananas are much sweeter than unripe bananas. If you use a banana that still has a green tinge to it's skin, your air fryer bananas will not be as sweet.
- Coconut Sugar: I used coconut sugar in this recipe, but if you can also use granulated sugar.
- Coconut Oil: Refined or unrefined coconut oil will both work in this recipe.
- Cinnamon: Cinnamon is an optional spice, but I think it really adds an extra flavor boost.

- Coconut yogurt - The creaminess of the yogurt contrasts nicely with the sweet bananas. Top with some crunchy granola for texture. Check out my yogurt granola bowl recipe ideas.
- Oatmeal - Sliced bananas over a bowl of oatmeal adds natural sweetness and fruitiness. Could also add cinnamon or nut butter.
- Nice cream - Blend the bananas into a creamy "nice cream" for a healthy treat. Can mix in other fruit like strawberries or mango.
- Toast/pancakes - Sliced caramelized bananas on top of cinnamon toast, banana bread, waffles or pancakes is always a tasty combination.
- Flaxseed pudding - Layer sweet bananas over a flaxseed pudding made with plant-based milk. Could top with shredder coconut or slivered almonds.
โ๏ธStorage Instructions
Refrigerator
Let the cooked air fryer bananas cool completely after cooking. Store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 2-3 days maximum. The bananas may lose their crispness but will still taste good.
Freezer
Place cooled bananas in a freezer bag or airtight container, making sure to remove any excess air. Seal and freeze for up to 2 months. When you're ready to eat them, remove the desired portion from your freezer and microwave for 30 seconds to 1 minute until warmed through and slightly softened. You can also let the frozen bananas sit at room temperature for 10 minutes to thaw slightly before serving.
