๐Why You'll Love This Smoothie
๐With just a few simple ingredients and a blender, you can whip up this delicious smoothie in minutes, making it perfect for busy mornings or as a post-workout snack.

๐A silken tofu smoothie is a great way to sneak some more protein into your diet.
๐This smoothie is gluten-free and dairy-free.
๐Ingredients
- Silken Tofu: Silken tofu blends more easily compared to regular tofu. Its soft texture makes it perfect for achieving an extra smooth and velvety texture.
- Strawberries & Raspberries: I used fresh berries in this recipe, but feel free to use frozen berries and to omit the ice the recipe calls for.
- Banana: The banana contributes to the creamy texture of this smoothie. Plus, it adds a touch of sweetness. Try to use an extra ripe one.
- Maple Syrup: Start with one teaspoon and taste and adjust. If your banana is extra sweet, you won't need much of an additional sweetener.
- Almond Milk: I like the nutty flavor of almond milk for this recipe, but feel free to use whatever plant-based milk you have on hand.
- Vanilla Extract: Vanilla adds depth of flavor to this smoothie. I always recommend using a good quality vanilla extract for the best flavor.
๐จโ๐ณHow To Make A Silken Tofu Smoothie
- Rinse the berries under cold water. Peel and slice the banana.
- In a blender, combine the silken tofu, mixed berries, sliced banana, maple syrup, almond milk, and vanilla extract. If you prefer a colder/slushier smoothie, you can also add a handful of ice cubes.
- Blend all the ingredients until smooth and creamy. If the smoothie is too thick, add more almond milk, a little at a time, until you reach the desired consistency.
- Taste the smoothie and adjust the sweetness by adding more maple syrup if necessary.
- Pour the smoothie into glasses and serve immediately.
Top Tip
If you have some spare time, try roasting your bananas in the oven or air fryer. Freeze them in a single layer on a parchment lined baking tray. Add them to your smoothie as you would the fresh bananas in the recipe. Roasted bananas add the most incredible flavor! Smoothies are great healthy meal prep options. Here's how to make this recipe and store it in the fridge for a quick, healthy breakfast option:
Refrigerator
After blending, transfer the silken tofu smoothie into airtight containers and store them in the refrigerator. When you're ready to drink your smoothie, give the container a shake or stir and pour it into a glass.
Freezer
The easiest way to meal prep smoothies is to chop up all the fruit and put each serving into its own freezer bag. I don't recommend freezing silken tofu. It changes the texture. Place the smoothie packs in the freezer. They can be stored for up to 1-2 months. Thaw overnight in the fridge, and all the contents to your blender along with the silken tofu, maple syrup, almond milk and vanilla extract.
๐Frequently Asked Questions
No, a tofu smoothie doesn't taste like tofu. Silken tofu, especially when blended into a smoothie with other ingredients like fruits and sweeteners, tends to have a very mild flavor and a creamy texture. The other flavors in the smoothie, such as fruits, sweeteners, and any additional ingredients, usually dominate the taste, masking any tofu flavor. As a result, the tofu serves more as a creamy, protein-rich base for the smoothie rather than a prominent flavor component.
Of course you can! Raw tofu is wonderful in salads, soups and smoothies.
Regular tofu has a firmer texture and is denser compared to silken tofu. It's made by pressing soy milk into blocks, resulting in a solid consistency suitable for slicing, frying, or grilling. Silken tofu, on the other hand, has a softer, creamier texture because it's coagulated directly in its packaging without pressing, making it ideal for blending into smoothies or for use in recipes where you want a smooth texture.
