Fried Eggs Taste Even Better With This One Simple Ingredient

There’s something comforting about a perfectly fried egg – that golden yolk, the crispy edges, the satisfying sizzle in the pan.

But even the most devoted egg lovers will admit that sometimes they could use a little more flavour.

According to food experts, there’s one effortless trick that can take your fried eggs from good to unforgettable – and it involves an ingredient you probably already have sitting in your fridge.

This article is for general informational purposes only. Cooking times and results may vary. Photos are for illustrative purposes only.

The Secret To Next-Level Fried Eggs

The trick is simple: add fresh herbs to your pan before cracking in the eggs. Basil, parsley, sage, or coriander work wonders, instantly infusing the oil with flavour and releasing an irresistible aroma as they crisp up.

As the herbs fry, they mingle with the hot oil, creating a fragrant base that coats the egg whites and gives every bite an earthy, savoury twist.

Foodie experts from Simply Recipes say the herbs don’t just add taste – they also improve texture, turning your eggs “impossibly crisp” without any extra effort. The key is letting the herbs sizzle gently in the oil for a minute before adding your egg.

    How To Do It Properly

Start by heating a splash of oil in your pan – olive or vegetable oil both work. Toss in a few fresh herbs of your choice and let them fry for about a minute until slightly crisp.

Then, carefully crack in your egg. The herbs will continue to flavour the oil while the egg cooks, creating a golden, flavour-packed masterpiece.

For a soft, runny yolk, cook for about three minutes. Prefer a firmer egg? Flip it over for another minute or so.

Once done, sprinkle a pinch of salt and pepper on top and serve it with toast, avocado, or whatever takes your fancy.

The result is a fried egg that tastes anything but ordinary – crisp around the edges, rich with herb-infused oil, and bursting with flavour.

It’s a small change that makes a big difference, proving you don’t need fancy ingredients to cook like a pro.

Once you’ve tried frying with herbs, plain eggs will never feel quite the same again.
