7 UK Restaurant Chains With The Best Bone-In Wings

There’s something timeless about sitting down to a plate of proper bone–in wings – crispy on the outside, juicy inside, and covered in just the right amount of sauce.

Whether you like fiery spice or something more subtle, these UK restaurant chains have perfected the balance of flavour, crunch, and tenderness. They’ve turned a simple pub favourite into a national obsession, and every bite proves why.

This article is for general informational purposes only. Menu items, prices, and availability may vary depending on location.

    1. Wingstop

Americans reckon they've perfected the chicken wing, and Wingstop's arrival on British shores has certainly turned heads. Born in Texas back in 1994, this chain takes its wings seriously – we're talking 11 different flavour options, from Louisiana Rub to Atomic.

Each wing gets double-battered and cooked to order, which means you're guaranteed that satisfying crunch. The portion sizes are generous too, making it proper value for money when you're absolutely starving.

    2. Nando's

Most Brits have a Nando's loyalty card tucked somewhere in their wallet, and for good reason. Whilst they're famous for their butterfly chicken, the bone-in wings often steal the show at the table.

Marinated for 24 hours in their signature peri-peri sauce, these wings pack flavour from the first bite. You can choose your heat level from Lemon & Herb right through to Extra Extra Hot, and they arrive perfectly chargrilled with that distinctive Portuguese flair that's made Nando's a British institution.

    3. Slim Chickens

Hailing from Arkansas, Slim Chickens landed in the UK with a mission to bring proper Southern hospitality to our high streets. Their wings are hand-breaded using a secret recipe that's been guarded since 2003.

What sets them apart is the sheer variety – 17 different house-made sauces mean you'll never get bored. The wings come out piping hot with a satisfyingly craggy coating that holds onto whatever sauce you fancy, whether that's classic Buffalo or something a bit more adventurous like Inferno.

    4. Wetherspoons

You might not think of your local Spoons as a wing destination, but hear us out. For the price of a fancy coffee elsewhere, you can get a decent plate of bone-in wings at Wetherspoons, and they're surprisingly good.

Available in BBQ or hot sauce, these wings won't win any culinary awards, but they're proper pub grub done right. Perfect for soaking up a few pints on a Friday night, and the portions are generous enough to share – though you probably won't want to once you start eating.

    5. Frankie & Benny's

This New York Italian-themed chain knows how to do comfort food, and their bone-in wings are no exception. Coated in a sticky, sweet glaze with just enough kick to keep things interesting, they're proper crowd-pleasers.

The wings arrive in a generous portion that's ideal for sharing as a starter, though families often order them as a main for the kids. They're not the spiciest option on this list, but sometimes you want something that's just reliably tasty without blowing your head off, and Frankie & Benny's delivers exactly that.

    6. Yard Sale Pizza

Pizza joints doing brilliant wings might seem odd, but Yard Sale Pizza in London has absolutely nailed it. Started in a Finsbury Park car park back in 2014, they've become legendary for their New York-style slices and their buffalo wings.

These aren't an afterthought – they're properly meaty, coated in authentic Frank's RedHot sauce, and served with creamy blue cheese dip. The wings have developed such a following that regulars often skip the pizza entirely and just order multiple portions of wings instead, which says everything really.

    7. Greene King Pubs

With over 2,700 pubs across Britain, Greene King is practically unavoidable, and their chicken wings have quietly become one of their best menu items. Available in sticky BBQ or piri piri flavours, these wings are proper pub classics done well.

They're not trying to reinvent the wheel here – just solid, satisfying wings that pair brilliantly with a pint and some proper pub atmosphere. The meat falls off the bone beautifully, and the coating strikes that sweet spot between crispy and saucy that makes pub wings so moreish.
