You don't need to buy expensive pre-packaged turmeric shots in the store to reap the numerous health benefits of turmeric. They're easy to make at home! I'll show you how to make turmeric shots using a blender or a juicer. And, I'll show you how to make it using the turmeric root or powder.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 2 inch piece of turmeric root * or 1 tablespoon of powdered turmeric
  • 2 oranges
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper ground

Turmeric Shots With A Juicer

  • Scrub the turmeric root to remove any dirt. Peel the oranges. Run them both through the juicer and add the black pepper. Stir to combine. If decanting turmeric shot into bottles, do that now.

Turmeric Shots With A Blender

  • Peel and chop the turmeric root. If using fresh oranges, peel those and juice them using a hand juicer. Alternatively, use a quality store bought orange juice.
  • Add the chopped turmeric and orange juice to a blender. Blend until the turmeric is finely chopped. This works best in a high speed blender, but any blender will do.
  • Pass the juice through a fine sieve or cheesecloth to remove any bits that didn't get fully blender in.
  • Stir in the black pepper. Decant your turmeric shots into bottles (if using).

Turmeric Shots From Turmeric Powder

  • Put 1 tablespoon of turmeric powder, the juice of two oranges and ¼ teaspoon of ground black pepper into a clean jar.
  • Shake to combine.

Notes

  1. Pregnant women should not consume turmeric shots.
  2. Store in a clean container in the fridge.  Consume within 7-10 days.
