If you're wondering how to make sticky rice in a rice cooker, you're in the right place. Sticky rice is traditionally steamed, but it's also very easy to make this staple of Asian cuisine in your rice cooker.

Equipment

  • 1 Rice Cooker

Ingredients
 
 

  • 1 cup glutinous rice *also known as sticky rice or sweet rice
  • 1¼ cups water
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Instructions
 

  • Measure the rice and pour it into the rice cooker.
  • Add the water. Allow the rice to soak in the water for 30 minutes.
  • Add the salt, and stir. Turn the rice cooker on. The rice cooker will turn itself to warm automatically. Once it does, allow the rice to sit, with the lid on for 5 minutes.
  • Take the lid off the rice cooker and allow the steam to escape for 2 minutes.
  • Enjoy your sticky rice!

  1. This recipe will yield 2 cups of cooked rice, which is a 4 person serving.
