This vegan cream cheese frosting recipe couldn't be simpler to make, and it goes so well with so many of your favorite vegan desserts. And, you only need 5 simple ingredients and about 15 minutes to make this creamy, decadent dairy-free frosting.
1-2tablespoonsnon-dairy milksuch as almond, soy, or oat milk, if needed
Pinchof salt
Instructions
Make sure the vegan cream cheese and vegan butter are softened at room temperature. This will ensure a smooth and creamy frosting.
In a mixing bowl, combine the softened vegan cream cheese and vegan butter. Use a hand mixer or stand mixer on low to medium speed to blend them together until smooth and well combined.
Add the vanilla extract to the cream cheese and butter mixture. Mix again to incorporate the flavor.
Start by adding 1 cup of powdered sugar to the mixture. Mix on low speed to prevent the sugar from flying everywhere. Once the sugar is mostly incorporated, increase the speed and mix until smooth.
Gradually add the remaining powdered sugar, about 1 cup at a time, mixing well after each addition. This will give your frosting its sweetness and structure.
If the frosting is too thick, you can add 1-2 tablespoons of non-dairy milk to reach your desired consistency. Add the milk one tablespoon at a time, mixing well between additions, until the frosting is smooth and spreadable.
Add a pinch of salt to enhance the flavor and balance the sweetness of the frosting. Mix briefly to incorporate.
Once all the ingredients are combined and the frosting is smooth, give it a final mix on medium-high speed for about 1-2 minutes. This will ensure a light and airy texture.

Storage Instructions:
Refrigerator
Store your vegan cream cheese frosting in an airtight container. Ensure that the container is tightly sealed to prevent air and moisture from getting in, as this can cause the frosting to dry out or develop an off-flavor.
Place the container in the refrigerator. Generally, vegan cream cheese frosting can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 1 week. However, it's best to consume it within the first few days to enjoy its optimal texture and flavor.
Before using the frosting, allow it to come to room temperature by taking it out of the refrigerator and letting it sit for about 15-20 minutes. This will help soften the frosting and make it easier to spread.
Freezer
While cream cheese frosting can be frozen, the texture can change upon thawing, potentially becoming a bit watery or separated. I recommended to avoid freezing cream cheese-based frostings if possible.
