5 Top Chain Restaurants With Gluten-Free Options

Eating out when you’re avoiding gluten can feel tricky, but more UK chains are now making it easier with labelled menus and thoughtful choices. While none of these restaurants run fully gluten-free kitchens, they do highlight dishes that work for people who want to cut back on gluten or need clear guidance.

This article is for general informational purposes only. Menu items, ingredients, and preparation methods can differ by location and may change over time. If you have allergies, coeliac disease, or specific dietary needs, always confirm directly with the restaurant before ordering to ensure food is safe for you.

    1. Pizza Express

Pizza Express has become a real favourite for anyone avoiding gluten, thanks to their long-standing work with Coeliac UK. Their gluten-free base holds its own against the classic version, so you don’t feel like you’re missing out.

Most toppings can be added without fuss, which means you still get all your usual favourites. It’s one of those places where you can order with confidence and still feel part of the pizza night fun.

    2. Bill's

Bill’s has several gluten-free options marked on the menu, covering different parts of the day. You’ll find things like salads and mains that can be adapted, and the menu clearly labels dishes to make it easier to choose.

While it’s not a dedicated gluten-free kitchen, having options marked out helps make ordering more straightforward.

    3. Pho

At Pho, many dishes are based around rice noodles and fresh herbs, which can suit people avoiding gluten. Their menu is clearly labelled, so it’s easier to see which choices work. Still, some sauces or cooking methods may include gluten, and the kitchens are not completely free from cross-contact.

It’s best to check directly with staff before ordering if you’re very sensitive.

    4. Zizzi

Zizzi offers non-gluten containing pizza bases and pasta swaps, and their menus mark these choices clearly. This makes it simpler to spot alternatives to the usual wheat-based dishes. Because the kitchens handle many ingredients, they can’t guarantee that meals are completely free from cross-contact.

Their allergen guide recommends checking carefully if you need stricter assurances.

    5. Chiquito

At Chiquito, corn tortillas form the base of some dishes like fajitas, and other options such as rice dishes and grilled meats are available. The menu is labelled to highlight choices for those avoiding gluten, which helps narrow things down.

That said, many fried items are cooked in shared oil, and the restaurant does not guarantee food is safe for coeliac disease.

These options are generally better suited to those with an intolerance or preference rather than a severe allergy.
