TikTok Can’t Get Enough Of ‘Nature’s Labubu’ – Why Gen Z Are Unboxing Conkers

Move over mystery toys and influencer haul videos – Gen Z has found a new obsession, and it’s far more down to earth. Literally.

Across TikTok, young creators are racking up millions of views by “unboxing” conkers, peeling back their spiky green shells to reveal the glossy brown gems inside.

They’re calling them “Nature’s Labubu” – a nod to the collectible figurines that come in surprise boxes – and the internet can’t get enough.

This article is for general informational and entertainment purposes only. Viral trends and participation may vary by region. Always handle conkers carefully to avoid injury, and photos are for illustrative purposes only.

What Exactly Is ‘Unboxing A Conker’?

If you’re scratching your head, you’re not alone.

In the traditional sense, conkers were never meant to be unboxed – they were strung onto laces and swung at each other in school playgrounds in an attempt to smash your opponent’s conker to bits.

Now, instead of cracking them open in battle, Gen Z is gently opening the spiky husks to film that satisfying reveal moment. It’s a mix of ASMR, nostalgia, and pure autumn aesthetic.

    Why The Hype?

The appeal is simple – conkers are unpredictable. No two are ever quite the same. Some are huge and shiny, others small and flat.

Each “unboxing” is a little surprise, and the reveal taps into that same dopamine hit you get from collectible toys or mystery bags.

Add a sprinkle of nostalgia and a soothing autumn soundtrack, and you’ve got TikTok gold.

From Playground Battles To Calm Content

Once upon a time, conkers were a full-contact sport.

Soaking them in vinegar, baking them in the oven, or proudly declaring yours a “twenty-niner” (for the number of wins) were all part of the playground chaos.

Today’s generation has traded competition for calm – swapping shoelaces and splinters for ring lights and slow-motion shots.

    King Charles Would Approve (Probably)

In true British fashion, the conker has a royal connection too. King Charles recently sent 300 conkers to the World Conker Championships – proof that this timeless autumn favourite still holds a special place in the nation’s heart.

Whether it’s for nostalgia, nature, or sheer online fun, the humble conker has officially had its comeback moment.
