New “Dubai Chocolates” Are Taking Over – And They’re Cheaper Than The Original

If you’ve scrolled through TikTok lately, chances are you’ve seen people losing their minds over “Dubai chocolate.”

What started as a luxury treat from a boutique chocolatier in the UAE has become one of the biggest viral dessert trends of the year.

Now, thanks to new supermarket versions hitting the shelves, you don’t have to spend a fortune to taste what all the fuss is about.

This article is for general informational purposes only. Product details, pricing, and availability may vary by retailer. Photos are for illustrative purposes only.

The Sweet Origin Of A Global Trend

The craze began in 2022 when Dubai-based FIX Dessert Chocolatier launched its now-iconic Can’t Get Knafeh Of It bar – a pistachio-filled chocolate inspired by the Middle Eastern dessert knafeh.

The combination of smooth milk chocolate, crunchy kataifi pastry, and creamy pistachio centre turned it into an instant hit.

But it wasn’t until 2023 that the treat truly went global, when creator Maria Vehera shared her first bite on TikTok, sending millions of viewers searching for their own slice of indulgence.

@fixdessertchocolatier WOW, JUST WOW!!! Can’t explain how good these are! When a chocolate, a dessert and a piece of art meet this is what you get! 🍫 "Can't Get Knafeh of it," "Mind Your Own Busicoff," and "Crazy Over Caramel." Since then, Dubai chocolate has found its way into cakes, mousses, and even cookies. Bakeries and dessert shops have jumped on the trend, reimagining the pistachio-chocolate pairing in creative (and often extravagant) ways.

But now, it’s big brands and supermarkets bringing the luxury flavour to the masses – at prices that don’t make your eyes water.

    The Budget-Friendly Dubai Chocolate Boom

The latest buzz comes from Ghirardelli’s new Dubai-Style Chocolates, which offer a more accessible version of the viral dessert.

Instead of the traditional bar, these come as individually wrapped truffle-style bites filled with pistachio cream and shredded kataifi pastry, all encased in silky milk chocolate with a hint of crunch.

They’re expected to roll out in select stores this November, priced well below the original. You can even grab a gift box or bulk pack online – ideal for Christmas gifting or a cheeky self-indulgence.

And Ghirardelli isn’t alone; shops like Costco and Trader Joe’s have already experimented with their own takes, giving chocolate lovers a taste of Dubai luxury without the flight ticket or the splurge.

    Why Everyone’s Talking About Them

Part of the appeal is texture – that irresistible mix of crisp, creamy, and crunchy in every bite. The pistachio flavour feels rich but not overpowering, while the chocolate balances it with smooth sweetness.

Even dark chocolate fans have been converted, claiming the blend is “addictive” and “dangerously good.”

So, while the original Dubai bar remains a high-end favourite, these new versions might just be the sweet spot for anyone wanting to join the trend without breaking the bank.
