McDonald’s is a global brand, but the price of a meal can vary widely depending on where you order it. Local economies, ingredients, and taxes all play a part in shaping the cost. Looking at different countries gives an interesting snapshot of how prices change around the world.

This content is for general information only. Prices vary by country, location, and time, and may change without notice. Photos are for illustration only.

A meal at United Kingdom McDonald’s usually costs between £6.70 for a Medium and £7.40 for a Large. This price point has become a familiar benchmark for many Brits when comparing McDonald’s around the world.

The meal itself includes the signature double-deck burger, fries, and a soft drink.

In McDonald’s homeland, a standard Big Mac meal typically costs between $9 and $12 (around £7–£10), depending on location. Portions in McDonald’s USA are often larger than in Europe, which many diners see as good value for the price.

Free refills on soft drinks are standard practice across the country, a difference many UK visitors notice during their travels.

    3. Australia

A Big Mac meal in Australia costs around A$12.35 (about £6.30–£6.60). The higher minimum wage in Australia partially explains the elevated price compared to many other countries.

McDonald’s Australia is also the birthplace of the McCafé concept, introduced in 1993 before spreading worldwide, offering barista-made coffee alongside the usual menu.

    4. China

A Big Mac meal in China costs around ¥35 (about £4.00–£4.50). Menus at McDonald’s China feature items such as taro pies and red bean desserts alongside Western classics.

Delivery services are highly popular in major cities, with dedicated McDonald’s scooters a common sight on busy streets. Many outlets operate 24 hours, and branches in Shanghai and Beijing can be busy even late at night.

    5. Italy

A Big Mac meal in Italy costs around €11 (about £9.50), even in a country known for its strong traditional food culture. McDonald’s Italy offers unique items such as the McParmigiano burger made with authentic Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese and Parma ham.

Many branches also include McCafé sections serving espresso and Italian pastries like cannoli.

    6. Mexico

At McDonald’s Mexico, a meal usually costs 100–110 MXN (around £4.80–£5.30), placing it among the more affordable options worldwide. Alongside the familiar international staples, the menu highlights local favourites such as the McMolletes, an open-faced breakfast sandwich with beans and cheese, and burgers topped with jalapeños.

McTríos, or set deals, may also feature sides like queso fresco sticks to complement the standard offerings.

    7. South Korea

In South Korea, a McDonald’s meal is priced at about ₩8,500–9,000 (around £5.10–£5.40). One of the standout menu items is the Bulgogi Burger, which adapts classic Korean barbecue flavours into a fast-food favourite.

McDonald’s Korea is also well known for its strong delivery culture, with motorbike couriers a common sight in cities like Seoul.

This service makes the brand especially popular with office workers and students who want a quick meal without leaving home or work.

    8. Hong Kong

In Hong Kong, a McDonald’s meal costs about HK$50–55 (around £5.10–£5.50). Efficiency is a hallmark of McDonald’s Hong Kong, with some outlets able to serve customers in under a minute during peak hours.

The menu also reflects local tastes, offering breakfast options like congee and seasonal specials such as the Prosperity Burger with curly fries for Chinese New Year. This blend of speed and cultural adaptation has helped the chain remain a popular choice across the city.
